Eastlife website

I took a partially designed and developed theme and took it online. The website reflects the content of the eastlife magazine. Our team of editors write stories and upload them to the site.

We started with a customised theme, but I went on to design my own theme from scratch which better suits our needs.

The site is designed to be fully responsive on devices of different sizes, as demonstrated with the image below:

I was challenged with developing an events system which takes event and venue information from a supplier and shows this events to users on the front end. The user can filter these events by date, event type and location and the site will use ajax to dynamically fetch and display the data on screen without needing to refresh the page.

The system has been designed to also work on a mobile phone, with a UI designed for a smaller viewport.

The system includes a Google map which shows all the businesses listed. I have also developed a competition system which links with a Mail Chimp list to collect email addresses.

This system has allowed our sales team to add another product to sell into, as well as a good way to collect customer information and add new visitor to the site. It has proven popular because businesses get to buy the data and thus get a list of email addresses of potential customers.
